After almost two years of planning, my fiancé and I are now just three months away from getting married. We're having a rose gold Wonderland themed wedding, which means Alice has grown up, the Mad Hatter has swapped tea for Champagne and the White Rabbit may actually arrive on time...
But with all the wedding planning, it's shown us how similar it is to running a business. Firstly, we've been designing, building, creating and printing ourselves. Secondly, we've been chasing both guests and suppliers and keeping spreadsheets for everything from spending, to attendance, to dietary requirements. Thirdly, we started out with nothing, and have ended up with a room full of mirrors, boxes and chocolates galore!
Planning a wedding can be stressful, but for a business owner it's actually been refreshing. My fiancé and I work well together. We work together in business, and now with the wedding it's just reinforced what a great team we can be. That's why it's so exciting working in the digital workplace world right now. Forget the Cheshire Cat, I smile because I love what I do. Unlike the Queen of Hearts, I enjoy helping people. Helping companies of all sizes bring people together. Communication. Collaboration.
